QCC 25th Anniversary Ball

As the club was formed in 1989, 25 years ago, Ali and I thought that would be a great excuse for a black tie ball.

With over 60 in attendance, collars and ties for the blokes and gowns for the ladies, it was a different style of dress up that we are not accustomed to of late. It was also great to have 7 ex presidents that have led the club for 17 of the 25 years there to help celebrate the night, including founding member #1 Con Milos and stunning wife Kathie.

The evening started in the afternoon with check in drinks and set up the room ready, Silky and Sandy put themselves in fine form at the bar early for the evenings celebrations.

After the meet and greet in the foyer with canapés, and viewing the impressive 1978, 25th anniversary Corvette parked inside the entrance the celebrators moved into our private ballroom for the main meal and nightly activities.

Entertainment for the evening besides the usual members was Lesyah Malveen, an outstanding performance with the dance floor packed during most numbers.

Being the clubs 25th anniversary the theme for a lot of the auction items was just that, 1978 Corvette, and with over $2800 taken from the floor from auctioning these prize possessions they were definitely well received.

Thanks to the following for donating auction items - Vanderreydens for hand made 1978 Towels, Whittles for the homemade xmas cake and coasters, Webro’s for the clocks, Lamont’s for the hand made embroidery, Stumers for the concourse prizes, Thoroughgoods on behalf of Performax with the sponsored collectibles, our daughter Ash for making the chev cup cakes and anniversary cake and me for my hugely successful table centres Ali designed (hehe).

Apologies from the Bondoks having to cancel due to Johns ill health and thanks to Billy for taking a seat and the Carsons for filling the spare room

With forty of us taking advantage of the great bed and breakfast package Ali negotiated, it definitely wasn’t an early night and the festivities continued at the down stairs bar until the wee hours.

Even the Sunday for those not wanting to say goodbye left us returning home to board the C5 and join the twelve for lunch at Kingscliffe.

What a weekend…… lucky Monday was a holiday to re-cooperate.

I love it when an idea turns into a plan and then into fruition and I love it more when Ali and I have as much fun as the people we organised it for, it really was a great night with a bunch of people that have one thing in common….a Corvette…..well done Ali xx

                 Cheers Peter
