   Weekend of 14 & 15th March 2015
Presidents Poker Run - Sunshine Coast

We all gathered at McDonalds Loganholme, received our first card and headed on our way to our destination.  The Viagra Ern took the night before kicked in and they had to duck home to "make sure the iron was turned off," (yeah sure),  1st couple missing.  Anita & Tony were next with a blown rear tire.

We arrived at the Shell Nudgee to receive our second card and meet the northsider's.  A couple of phone calls later to ensure Ern & Sal and Tony & Anita were OK and the group headed to our lunch venue - the Bribie Island Surf Club.

This is where the missing couples caught up, but we had lost John & Sue, they missed the turn off to Bribie.  We all received our third card and sat to enjoy a beautiful lunch thanks to Pricilla.  John & Sue finally arrived after taking the scenic route.

A delicious lunch behind us as we head for our next destination - the Ettamogah Pub.  Unfortunately, Craig's Vette won't start, flat battery.  We told the others to proceed to the Ettamogah Pub and we would catch up, Pete Turner being an old hand at these events took the lead. I gave Craig a jump start after trying to push start the old girl and we got the beast going and headed off to catch the crew.

As we were motoring up the highway I noticed a yellow C5 Corvette with its bonnet up on the side of the road, Geoff & Carolee had done a water pump and were stuck.  We bundled Carolee in our car and left Geoff on the hwy waiting for Ivan Mallat [the RACQ] to pick him up.  We arrived at the pub where we regrouped, refreshed and received our fourth card.

We left the pub and continued north to the resort where Kevin & Denise joined the group.  We were warmly welcomed by Phill & Moona and shown our large rooms.  Mine having a big screen T.V.  After freshening up we sat on the balcony to a few well deserved drinks & nibbles and received our fifth cards.

We began preparing for the night and the big poker showdown - possibly a little under table passing of cards before a winner was announced - Ali Turner.  The lucky door prize went to Ken and the best dressed went to Ralph & Glennis.  After dinner we got into our games, throwing darts into cards if you had the matching card you won a prize.  With Pete being the MC for the night what could possibly go wrong????  All went well with our usual antics until Pete Turner tried to catch darts (something I'm sure he'd seen on Myth Busters) and after not succeeding (Myth Busted) had to tend to a few puncture wounds.  We finished the night back on the balcony with a few night caps and bandaids before retiring for the evening.

After waking to a succulent buffet breakfast prepared by Alice, we hit the road home.  I would like to thank Phill & Moona and Alice & Debbie from the resort for their outstanding efforts in looking after us.  I would like to thank Pete for all his help. I would like to thank all those that were able to join us for the weekend as without your participation the trip just wouldn't have been the same.  It was great to see everybody went out of their way to help one another, participate in the dress-up and ultimately, enjoy the entire weekend.

Thank you all Glenn
